Reminds me of the noticeable higher citation counts of @arxiv.bsky.social submissions that appear first in the announcement lists: arxiv.org/abs/0907.4740 A similar effect may be happening here: just appearing first in the journal webpage could boost the citation count.
I'd be happy if colleges would at least flunk STEM majors who don't understand basic statistics...
