David Hockney, the iconic British painter who cast a revolutionary gaze across 20th-century art, has died aged 88.
She began her film career playing innocent heroines on the silent screen, and after a few small parts she caught the attention of MGM. Nominated six times for an Oscar, she won for her starring role in The Divorcee in 1930. Norma Shearer August 11, 1902 – June 12, 1983
At a ceremony in central London on Thursday evening, debut novelist Virginia Evans was announced the winner of this year’s Women's Prize for Fiction, while the BBC’s chief international correspondent Lyse Doucet was awarded the Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction.
Along with Herbie Hancock and Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea #botd was composer of several jazz standards including “Spain”, “La Fiesta”, and “Windows”, and was one of the top stylists to emerge after Bill Evans and McCoy Tyner. He won 29 Grammy Awards.
