If you were a fantasy gamer in the 80s it was impossible not to encounter, and be beguiled by, John Blanche's art. White Dwarf, Warhammer, & I loved the SORCERY books when I was a kid. It was the best way to play when you couldn't get a game group together. I hope there's fantasy games in heaven.

I remember my school library had a couple of Steve Jackson books tucked away and it was Blanche’s wonderful illustrations that lead me to pick them off the shelves.
The Shamutani Hills was one that leapt out at me with its gnarly looking manticore.
