"The greatest mistake is to imagine that the human being is an autonomous individual. The secret freedom which you can supposedly enjoy under a despotic government is nonsense, because your thoughts are never entirely your own." — Orwell, April 28, 1944

Corporate media, actually those in charge of it, are scared of people like Graham Platner.
Omfg. This is so ridiculous. To think all that needs fixed can be done with a few legislative tweaks is, uh, legal and political (oh, and moral) insanity. But what do we expect from a George Mason University employee? Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, and Mike Pence are alumni. Huh?
Whatever humiliation he has suffered or will suffer, until the entire Republican Party suffers the same humiliation, it won't be humiliation enough to fix what's wrong.
Here's Bernie's secret: pick an outspoken progressive and don't back down, even if the mainstream press--corporate to its core--hounds you over it.
White = right. Since the dawn of Western Civilization, always has been. Question is, will it always be?
Just your ordinary everyday corruption, now well tolerated by journalists and the public.
Good guy. Fighting the good fight.
Real leader.
I'm more ashamed of Americans who voted for him.

The miracles of medical science have prevented so much misery in our world. It’s hard to imagine a world before vaccination, antibiotics and insulin were widely available. I’m grateful to all the researchers and medical people who have made it happen.

The establishment said he was unelectable. Corporate media called him irredeemable. David Brooks called him a "degenerate." Graham Platner won the Democratic primary by more than 50 points anyway. And he's already polling 10 points ahead of Susan Collins in the general.

Bernie Sanders and his progressive allies are on a hot streak. The senator’s support has been instrumental in powering unknown candidates to major wins this cycle, a demonstration of how much political influence the 84-year-old progressive leader still commands.

"Court-packing would create a slippery slope to the destruction of judicial review...To the extent Callais is a problem, it can be better addressed by steps such as banning gerrymandering. There are also better remedies for various other shortcomings of the Court," writes @ilyasomin.bsky.social.

Why Callais Doesn’t Justify Court-Packing
Three years ago tomorrow, I very nervously gave this speech. I knew my career as a TV journalist was dunzo, cooked, filleted, kaput the morning I wrote it. (Thanks to Kat insisting I go for it anyway.) The end is awfully prescient at this exact second, though. Big ups to Scott Pelley for fighting.
ZELENSKYY: Ukrainian attacks on St. Petersburg and Moscow region, on military and energy targets, are our response to Russian attacks on our energy sector. This is also our answer: we will not just silently die — we will respond, and we will grow stronger each day, day by day.

throw in the indignity of seeing his name physically scraped off Kennedy Center, the cancellation of musical has-beens from his cheesy, self-referential 250 bash, and the entirely expected torrent of boos from Knicks fans, you have the pathological narcissist’s worst nightmare: public humiliation.
