My guess is the Big 12 is going to find some way to say if Texas Tech plays Sorsby, they forfeit/games cancelled. More likely than not, Tech caves.
BUT, there's a scenario where Texas Tech refuses and dares the Big 12 to call their bluff. Would the Big 12 kick them out?
