Banning social media for kids - great idea from Olds. Costs little. Not really enforceable, if the Australian case study is any guide.
The kids are generally using this tech as messaging. To talk to their peers. Olds are often suspicious of teenagers talking to each other.
Don’t get me wrong…🧵
Would be even more powerful is we had lived up to them in the last 150 years.

How'd I find myself rocking at the 'Shoe with the Grievous Angels and @charlieangus104.bsky.social? Just lucky I guess. Elbows up!
Surely it is Parliament as a whole that is devalued, not just the QP show

Congratulations to @canadashistory.bsky.social 's and James Gillespie for Honorable Mention, Illustration.
Canadian leaders have always stayed too long. Because the choice to stay or go is left entirely to them. Compare Mulroney to, eg, Thatcher.
Was struck by this from @sphillipsab.bsky.social in her commentary on the federal government's moves on AI and online harms.

In light of everything going on with Alberta right now, may I recommend this slight volume. It’s very quick and readable, and essentially points out how referendums are just elite fuckery.

« Je n’ai eu que peu ou pas d’impact sur les décisions », avoue Steven Guilbeault dans une longue entrevue accordée à Radio-Canada.

Wednesday’s court ruling blocking Alberta separatists’ efforts to hold a secession referendum this fall is a reminder that treaties are foundational to Canada’s existence, write @ginastar.bsky.social and James Rowe. #canpoli
One thing I'd like to figure out at some point is how often — if ever — a parliamentary party leader has survived and succeeded in the wake of significant rebellion.
Leaders always try to hang on. But my hunch is the number who've a) survived and b) subsequently succeeded is... vanishingly small.

Ottawa, like the secessionists, aims to extract maximum resources. First Nations have enduring rights.
