What do lobsters have in common with grasshoppers? It's in the name. "Lobster" derives from Old English 'lopustre', which itself is a corruption of the Latin 'locusta', which means both "locust/grasshopper" and also "marine shellfish". So lobsters are named for the Latin for 'sea grasshopper.'
