My typically response to something like this would be a hearty eyeroll, but I found this to be a fascinating analysis. Over the top, maybe. Stretching credibility, totally. Thougt provoking, absolutely.

I just got out of this one and was very pleased. After 3 years of people telling me that every other horror movie was a renaissance to the genre, a simple straight forward cyrse story steals the show. Engaging. Horrifying. Bleak. Fun. #horrorsky #obsession

It's hard to really put this in words. For my generation, the death of the shopping mall almost feels dystopian. This specific mall was the center of its own dystopia making this both poetic and tragic at the same time.
If you love the slow-burn, grief-stricken folk horror of Let’s Scare Jessica to Death, Don’t Look Now is essential viewing. It’s a gorgeous, brooding nightmare that stumbles right at the finish line. #HorrorCommunity https://malevolentdark.com/dont-look-now-1973/

Now that we are two full episodes in, would we consider Alex Garland's new 28 Years movies a cultural success? I'm don't feel compelled to ever watch them ever again, but wouldn't hesitate to fire up Days or Weeks.
To have the shameless confidence as the filmmaker to give a decapitated head 15 seconds of screen time just to have it slide down a waterfall and explode on a rock. 10/10 movie. malevolentdark.com/incredible-m...

Land of the Dead tries way too hard with a ham-fisted "Eat the Rich" motif. Dawn of the Dead did subversive social commentary perfectly, but here Romero drops all nuance for on the nose commentary. #HorrorCommunity #Romero https://malevolentdark.com/land-of-the-dead-2005/
