I know Calvin’s dad is already having a moment, but every terrible “outsource precious and fleeting moments with your children to tech so that you can spend more time on your work” pitch makes me think of that one strip I never really cared about as a kid, but care a lot about as an adult.
Appointing a partisan non-journalist activist PR maven columnist to a media outlet board or c-suite: fine, good, cross-pollination &c &c
Appointing a partisan non-journalist activist PR maven columnist as editor-in-chief of a media outlet: a hostile takeover
The organised scale of abuse, coordinated and coming from overseas, towards our trans community rn is immense.

I'm half a world away, but this is such an important issue I made time to talk to Kate Green at RNZ about the DSS Bill.
I am thankful to Kate for covering it, and to Victoria Coleman, Blake Forbes, and Prudence Walker for speaking out about this Bill as well:

The next Kōrero for Change webinar will focus on Political and Democratic Processes and explore how we can strengthen political and democratic processes in Aotearoa to be inclusive, equitable, and representative of everyone.
How bonkers is it that our health minister, former transport minister, Simeon Browne, is a fossil fuels super fan #nzpol.
Media cheerlead his nonsense when they don’t price road deaths and pollution related illness into the equations re cars, EVs, speed limits, PT, RONS etc
#GoodNews for the Waikato river and catchment. Finally a court decision to stop the pollution by farming, industry and landowners.
Over time. And not guaranteed as the government's proposed Natural Environment and Planning Bills could override it. Sadly.

I know NZ is weirdly anti-bike and foolishly anti-bike lanes (idk why??) Having enjoyed exploring a city via ebike hirage, they are fabulous tourism tools and I can't believe how slow NZ tourism is with the uptake here. NZ is stunning and built for ebike tours!!

Hai it me, hiring an ebike to cruise about Stanley Park in Vancouver.
Dedicated bike lanes, considerate car drivers, and stunning summer weather = a boon for ebike operators.
Biking is surely the future, and it deffo brings economic value, judging by the sheer numbers of folk hiring ebikes here.
This is me paying a stupid amount of $$ in Montreal for an ebike tour 😁 there were plenty of bike lanes! It is such a good way to see the city, 100% recommend! I do think that NZ cities are losing out on these very cool and very easy tourism opportunities bc of our weird opposition to cycle lanes.
Welcome to the Kōrero for Change webinar series! Access Matters Aotearoa is facilitating courageous conversations about ableism in key areas of life where individuals in Aotearoa New Zealand face…
The bill follows a Supreme Court ruling that two carers of adult children with disabilies were employees of the government, and therefore entitled to the same legal protections and benefits.
