I wear a lot of hats: software developer, entrepreneur, weird fiction publisher, writer, non-profit founder, election worker, local handyman, open-source creator, and Macross & X-Men fan. Latest updates can be found at notesfromthevoid.cc.

5. That said, even if Reticulum takes a while to ripen, there are still a LOT of interesting applications I can build on top of MeshCore with a chat UI. (That's about half of my day job.) Looking forward to the day when I package up my dialog creation system as its own Home Assistant integration.

AI isn’t an SF thing anymore, it’s a DC thing Dario has been very loud about this, but people still aren’t

2. ... I'm hoping that the home Heltec repeater (WITH a tuned antenna) can function in the same kind of role that a Meshtastic CLIENT_BASE would in that world. 3. I ordered the Missus her own T1000-E tracker for our anniversary - she's gotten VERY interested in wardriving (more warwalking).
4. I still think that Reticulum is the community IoT endgame, and that MeshCore is somewhat limited for applications, but since they use the same radios, I'm treating MC as the first test for doing radio reliably and getting the physical layer reliable before thinking too much further up the stack.

Spent the morning dealing with a small JavaScript/jQuery mental impedence mismatch. It turns out that $(element).off('click') DOES NOT remove listeners set like element.addEventListener('click', myFunction). It's all good now, but before it was leading to some really interesting bugs. :-P
2. ... One of the issues that I have is that I have local nodes like my T1000-E card tracker that has a small antenna and struggles to get a signal out compared to something like my Wio L1 with a specially tuned antenna. (You can see the difference easily while wardriving.)

Running a small test where I've converted my Meshtastic nodes over to MeshCore to see if the local switch in the network (hi, AQUA!) is sufficient to reliably bridge my home and office environments. I've been VERY impressed by the MC integration for Home Assistant. #HomeAssistant #MeshCore

Some observations: 1. I'm still struggling with the problem that my nodes are better receivers than they are transmitters. One of the nice things about MC is that I get SOME metadata about the path taken that is useful in diagnosing issues. 2. I'm testing how a Heltec 3 works as a home repeater...
