Enfield has a lot of under used and viable small sites.
The more that come forward the better.
Increasing land supply by weakening planning policy while housebuilders pull back delivery = drive to more profitable greenfield sites that are poorly located and, with reduced environmental safeguards, more harmful to nature ...

A huge amount of Enfield's Strategic Industrial Land is poorly used.
Good to see this begin to change.
Around 13,000 homes could be built at Meridian Water, and it received £200m in government funding to deliver just that.
Unfortunately Sadiq Khan and GLA have been blockers for nearly a decade, holding back the delivery of affordable housing.
This is exactly what we have been warning about. But oh no, anyone who objects to the changes is a selfish, privileged nimby, a zealot, a blocker, an elitist. Let's trash the lives of England's poorest communities, and smear anyone who complains. Thanks Keir. 🧵 www.theguardian.com/environment/...
"London councils could be banned from “dumping” homeless families hundreds of miles across England under measures being considered by ministers ..."
Good. But how will that work without reviewing benefit caps, introducing rent control or increased council debt?

Some grey belt land in Edmonton is unsuitable for housing but could be used to make a great new park in an area seriously lacking in accessible green space.
Unfortunately zero support for this idea from the previous Labour administration.
Hopefully things will change now.

SHAC said the figures “expose a deluded government that blindly parrots horribly simplistic ‘build, baby, build’ targets as if this offers a universal cure – it doesn’t”.
Social rent homes are the only lasting solution to the housing emergency.

The new town idea is the wrong approach. There are other ways to deliver more homes more quickly at Crews Hill and elsewhere in Enfield.
A new town will take decades to deliver and will not help those in need of social rent and affordable housing today.
