The other thing about Dr. Montano's analysis is I suspect many of her general observations will apply to the Wildland Fire Service & the administration's attempts to consolidate all federal wildland fire efforts. All you Fire folks need to read this & think it through.
Preparing for a long, hot, and fiery summer. Record low snowpack across the west, a looming El Nino, & DOGE driven layoffs, reorgs, and continuing chaos at Fed agencies spell trouble for the region's forests (& for all of us who like to breathe).

Looks like a day for some initial attack action as we have lightning in the forecast for a chunk of UT and high winds from the western slope of CO through UT and into AZ. The next few days will be windy across much of the SW. Be careful out there.
