Statt die Rechte & Würde Schutzsuchender anzugreifen, sollte die EU ein einheitliches, rechtsstaatliches Asylverfahren mit individueller Schutzprüfung garantieren. Wir bekommen auf dem Mittelmeer die Auswirkungen der Asylpolitik hautnah mit. Hier sterben Menschen. Jeden Tag.

Sie bedeutet Verschärfungen, untergräbt Recht auf Asyl durch strengere Grenzverfahren sowie die erweiterte Anwendung des Konzepts der „sicheren Drittstaaten“. Statt die Situation zu verbessern, führt sie zu mehr Leid. Und Europa verliert ein weiteres Stück Menschlichkeit.

Heute tritt die im April 2024 entschiedene Reform des Gemeinsamen Europäischen Asylsystems (GEAS) in Kraft. Sie führt nicht zu mehr Rechten und Schutz für Menschen auf der Flucht, sondern bedeutet noch mehr Abschreckung und Abschottung.
