My theory remains that short form video basically triggers the same mental space as vaudeville or stand up comedy, the ILLUSION of authenticity & spontaneity achieved through suspension of disbelief sold through exaggerated, almost pantomime performances in an actually hyper-edited, staged format.

Short form video does seem to bypass peoples’ critical faculties in a way that is cognitively interesting but socially disastrous
