🔬 The @ebdonana.bsky.social has hosted a course on the preparation of vertebrate specimens for scientific collections, a specialized training program that introduces participants to one of the most valuable technical skills in research and conservation.
🌍 ICTS-Doñana strengthens its international collaboration through the RIOBIC network
🧑🔬 Through this course, participants gained hands-on experience with the fundamental techniques used to prepare and preserve specimens, helping to safeguard a scientific heritage that is essential for the study of biodiversity.
🔬 We have just published the first description of a massive outbreak of Metopoplax ditomoides in a natural habitat. Thousands of individuals covered vehicles and infrastructure in Doñana, a behaviour previously unknown for this species.

🔬 The projects will address a wide range of topics, including amphibian and reptile monitoring, wetland monitoring through remote sensing, butterfly monitoring, and scientific bird ringing, strengthening cooperation between Doñana and other biological reserves across Latin America.
🌿 Participation in RIOBIC highlights ICTS-Doñana’s role as a leading institution in ecological research and environmental monitoring, as well as its commitment to generating and transferring knowledge beyond national borders.
🌿 Scientific collections do more than preserve specimens—they safeguard knowledge about life on our planet.

🤝 Three proposals involving ICTS-Doñana have been selected in the RIOBIC internship calls for 2026 and 2027, an initiative that promotes the exchange of knowledge, methodologies, and technical capacities among Ibero-American research infrastructures and institutions.
🦋 These placements will contribute to the sharing of expertise, the development of new environmental monitoring tools, and the advancement of biodiversity conservation from an international perspective.
