While I find them annoying because they are extensively misused in conjunction with generative AI on a massive scale.
I don't have anything to argue with it just existing;
Just that it shouldn't be use for deception or something evil.
We've been using voice altering technologies like Autotune and Speech synthesizers for over 20 years at this point too.
And while there is an art in mixing those things,
even now using them is extremely easy.
Looking into how AI voice synthesis works and there are models that don't rely on tons of training data and can be done at home
And completely avoids Data centers and whole sale data theft. It just requires people willing to train it.
All the ethical problems of it are avoided with proper use.
God I love Dr. Stone,
Its just such a humbling anime,
That everything we have doesn't just exist in a vacuumed and is the culmination of a Millenia's worth of foundational technology.
To how hard things would be if they we're gone.
I don't know if I have any good argument against AI voices.
Art is a practice that can kind of be picked up by anyone,
But human voices are kind of immutable?
Like I can't just tell someone to "practice" soprano if their born a baritone.
