The holotype and only known specimen of Futabasaurus suzukii comprises an incomplete skeleton, including most of the skull. Miguel recently had a chance to visit that museum and provided some photos which show details of the skull and postcranium.

I just noticed that I wrote Nichollssaurus instead of Nichollssaura in my post.
In time for #FossilFriday, @miguelpmarx.bsky.social and I prepared the page on Futabasaurus suzukii for the plesiosaur database. Futabasaurus is the only plesiosaur currently named from Japan and one of the most complete specimens known from Asia. 1/2

For the Plesiosauria database, I have just completed the profile for Avalonnectes arturi, a plesiosaur named after the mythical island of Avalon and the legendary King Arthur. The holotype is on display in the Marine Reptiles Gallery at the Natural History Museum, London.

I’m currently building out in-depth profiles covering diagnoses, type localities, key specimens, and photos. I’ll be constantly expanding and updating the site with new taxa and details, so stay tuned. 3/3

The database includes detailed info on taxonomy, systematic position, geological age, and distribution. I’ve also added context on major clades. You’ll notice a “Links” section for each entry. 2/3

For the Plesiosauria database, I have just completed the profile page on Nichollssaurus borealis from the Lower Cretaceous of Alberta, the only leptocleidid known from North America. I studied the specimen last year and included several photos.

I just launched a webpage on Attenborosaurus conybeari. The holotype specimen of this plesiosaur, which is named after Sir David Attenborough, was tragically destroyed by bombing in WWII.

I’m excited to share a new project that I hope will be a valuable resource for the paleo community!
I'm working on a textbook about plesiosaurs and compiled a comprehensive overview of all currently valid plesiosaur taxa and some nomina dubia. 1/3
