#5DebutAlbumsSF1 Group G, album 4
Vampire Weekend - self titled
Can see why this did well in the 05-09 vote. It is one of the better examples of the softer melodic indie that prevailed at the time.
Not enough to really compete at this higher level for me, but fun and worth a listen.

My youngest is so aligned with my tastes.
Happy father's day.

No upset in this group in the end. The level of influence of the top 2 couldn't be denied.

2)Kate Bush - The Kick Inside
3)Vampire Weekend - ST
4)Weezer - self titled
Top two were pretty inevitable from the start but the order of them surprised me. I've gone with Bjork right now, but could change my mind daily.

Weezer - Weezer (Blue Album)
Quirky album both lyrically and musically. Incorporates various alternative genres and generally does them well.

Kate Bush - The Kick Inside
Remarkable achievement for one so young. Completely unique and out of the blue.
Bush would achieve much greater things, but this was a great start.

Lambrini Girls - Who let the dogs out?
Between the 2020s vote and now this, I've listened to this four times in a month. With each listen I like it more.
It's in a mad tough group, with a couple of legendary albums, but it could cause an upset.

Bjork - Debut
Another unconventional great flexing her genius from the start.
It's easy to forget with all her creativity that this would still be a banging dance album without all the rest. But the rest makes it exceptional.

King Crimson - In the court of the Crimson King
I'm not a fan of where prog-rock went, but the genre started out excellently with this.
Massively influential. Shame other prog artists couldn't learn its lesson about constraining self-indulgence.
