Two-tailed swallowtail butterfly in the garden today.
I just love these butterflies, lucky for me it stayed on the plants for a long time. We've spent many years planting flowers, shrubs etc with both hummingbirds and butterflies in mind.
Wow!
200,000km² of ocean declared entirely off-limits to fishing in some of the most biodiverse waters on earth 🌏

The lizards mostly spotted here are actually Prairie Lizards (Sceloporus consobrinus) or Plateau Fence Lizards. While often called "Western Fence Lizards" the true Western Fence Lizard (Sceloporus occidentalis) is only found further west.
I've always known them as WF lizards, live and learn 👍
Blue jay at the birdbath.
It had been threatening to rain/storm most of the afternoon then tonight it got wild!
These are 2 second exposures, the sky was just full of lightning and the thunder didn't stop rumbling - got audio for 8 mins straight of nothing but thunder and some rain.

This Agent of Chaos lived up to its name last night.
Off frame it removed my plastic landscape edging that has been there many years.
I have my work cut out for me today, putting it all back in, nice and proper.
'Orange' house finch is a dad!
Junior getting fed at the birdbath.
Typically our house finch males are red but when molting their diet will determine the colors of their new feathers. If their diet lacks certain pigments then a house finch may end up orange or yellow. #birds

Thanks to @birchduck.bsky.social I've found out the blue jay was imitating a red-tailed hawk at the beginning of the video.
I learn so much from my bluesky friends.
