Not only that but even for people who learned cursive writing the cursive z is the easiest letter to misread.
My earliest recollection of the cursive Z was it looked like a 2 with a tail.

They don’t teach the kids cursive in most schools anymore. So they don’t know how the letters look. 🫠 this is purposeful done so that ppl can’t read older documents that are primarily in cursive writing. my kids know how to read cursive b/c I taught them.
