2 major sources of uncertainty affect our calculations. More data would help both. 1. The BVD incubation period is poorly characterized. We need to model the distribution, not just the mean. 2. Can travelers even attempt travel with symptoms? For how long? Unknown. We assumed 1-3d. 3/
On balance, post-arrival quarantine is markedly more effective than traveler screening alone, but containment would benefit from stronger measures yet, including contact tracing. What about molecular diagnostics or rapid tests? 4/

As always, open to thoughts & feedback. We felt that more complex models would be hard to support, given thin data to date. Please share if you've seen more data on Bundibugyo's incubation periods. We used 2010 EID data from MacNeil et al, who have our thanks! stacks.cdc.gov/view/cdc/24267 6/6
