Let’s celebrate! It’s been a year since Placemaking Canada co-hosted the 2nd Global Placemaking Summit in Toronto with @placemakingx.bsky.social
What a time it was - over four days we brought together over 320 participants representing over 20 countries in 8 unforgettable venues across the City.
Placemaking Canada was formed to connect public space advocates across the country. For 10 years we’ve convened gatherings, championed initiatives and empowered placemakers.
As we enter our next decade, public space even more important. We look forward to you being part of our next chapter.
Jane’s Walk was started two decades ago to honour the legacy of Jane Jacobs, a visionary observer of city life, writer, advocate and community builder.
And of course, a big, BIG thank you to the many amazing speakers, volunteers, sponsors and collaborators who made the 2nd Global Placemaking Summit happen!
To find out what’s going on in your city or learn more about Jane's legacy, check out the main Jane’s Walk website. Lace up your shoes and get ready to explore!

Over 80 Canadian cities – and hundreds more around the world – are hosting events as part of this year’s #JanesWalk. This coming weekend (Fri May 1-Sun May 3) is an extravaganza of walking and rolling tours – an opportunity to join fellow urban enthusiasts and explore your city with fresh eyes.
We celebrated local and national placemaking and collectively progressed agendas that are the foundation for the global placemaking movement.
#PlacemakingCanada was founded 10 years ago here in Montreal. Great to have another #PlacemakingMontreal workshop for @placemaking-canada.bsky.social, led by @tjhfx.bsky.social and @ethankent.bsky.social.
