The caterpillars of these scarce butterflies fluoresce under UV light so, armed with torches and safety glasses, the gang were delighted to find several in the hedges. π¦
It is a pied wagtail π¦ Their black-and-white markings and long, wagging tail make them easy to identify as they hop across the road or lawn.
