It is easy to despair over the national media environment and collapse of institutional guardrails Mass mobilization of ordinary people is really the only guardrail left. Bluesky is not over run by Nazis and has no rightwing algorithm Use it to build community now. We will need it.
following minnesotans on bsky bc i couldn't find reliable news elsewhere is the reason i 1 took a rapid response training (3 to date in different areas) 2 trained to accompany people to ice appointments 3 donated to multiple orgs & a cafe to pay for "commuters" coffees. i love this place. Viva MN!
I banned AI deepfakes from being used to influence elections *three years* ago. Elections are already hard enough, we shouldn’t inject AI deepfakes into our democracy.

What we did changed national politics on immigration and halted for now the assaults on blue cities. Bluesky, especially the Twin Cities feed, run by local organizers is an organizing tool. If we hope to stop the authoritarian consolidation every city should organize a feed like ours.
Counterpoint. Bluesky was a critical hub for news, information, organizing and especially fundraising throughout the ICE occupation of MN. After brutal, frigid days in the streets we stitched each other back up, celebrated our wins, cried for our losses, crowdfunded needs, kept going.
And then charged is for overtime.

Not for soldiers killed overseas.
