But now that he HAS sacrificed himself for the one he loves -& has been redeemed for that selfless act- NOW he can be reborn & live the life essentially stolen from him (when Palpatine targeted him from infancy), forgive himself, & perhaps even pass on wisdom from his struggles of dark vs light.

Kylo Ren has to die to save Rey because the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker is that he could have saved Padmé at any time, if only he was willing to sacrifice himself in love. The power was hidden from him by the fears of the Jedi, the lies of the Sith, and his own innate and unhealed selfishness.
