There's no bigger U.S. scandal right now than the human beings dying needlessly in ICE gulags. I took a deep dive into the April death of Philly's Tuan Van Bui, Amerasian child of the Vietnam War

In 1990, the U.S. welcomed Tuan Van Bui and other young Amerasians. In 2025, ICE violently arrested him. Why did he die in custody?
Don't eat raw meat or drink unpasteurized milk. The modern disease ecology of North America no longer supports such practices. Our system of mass meat and milk production has made raw flesh food dangerous.

Hard to stress how important screw worm eradication was for the Texas cattle industry modernization back in the 1960s and 1970s.
Having said that, trichinosis and lumpy jaw and tuberculosis and rhinderpest and brucilosis and countless other diseases were spread by meat at the start of mass production, thus necessitating inspection and disease eradication campaigns.

Every world cup or Olympics, I get asked about all the new surveillance infrastructure.
Let me say it again: It stays. Just like building athlete dorms or putting up adversarial architecture--cameras, vendor contracts, and relationships with federal or private entities become part of the city.
