Loved this Marc Gunther review of WE ARE EATING THE EARTH. He said it’s a “terrific book” so I guess I was inclined to love it. Also “science-based, thoroughly researched, lively,” “a book every environmentalist should read” and other nice words. marcgunther.substack.com/p/a-book-eve...
Screwworm prevention is the kind of government spending that sounds stupid until you wish DOGE hadn’t cut it. I remember Bobby Jindal mocking the Obama stimulus for funding “something called volcano monitoring.” Funny until there’s an eruption!
I happened to catch a little climate change in action this morning. I took the photo a few seconds too late but I still think we should try really hard to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
This guy wants us to burn fewer fossil fuels and cut down fewer trees so that glacier behind him doesn’t melt as fast.
This is really bad. Climate accounting rules are boring but if you mess them up you mess up the climate, and the forestry industry has hijacked the process that makes the rules.
It goes fast.
Green groups and venture capitalists make mistakes. Some are whoppers.
That’s my Max, graduating from HS. The teachers voted to award him the Faculty Cup; as the head of school said, “Think Einstein crossed with The Buddha.” He’s the sweetest kid on the planet and I’m so insanely proud of him.
How sweet is Max? So sweet that I even caught his little sister tearing up when they said all those nice things about him.

Loved this Progressive Farmer review of WE ARE EATING THE EARTH: “Like them or hate them, they’re ideas well worth grappling with.”

I have resigned from the Greenhouse Gas Protocol's Independent Standards Board.
The Protocol is openly violating its own rules and has effectively delegated forest carbon accounting standards to a secret, industry-led working group.
