if they can't manage an early start and long day without frequently getting pissed at work they'd be fired from a 'normal job'

Being an MP involves having to be around in the evening to do nothing more than traipse through a room at random intervals. They've often been working since early that morning (ministers especially). The evenings aren't comparable to normal work because it's not comparable to a normal job.
