More a jazz and easy listening Liberal than a classical Liberal. Cricket (Northants fan), literature, economics, politics & anything that takes my fancy.

They were watching because it was former players day. There’s something about tradition, about the dots of the past leading somewhere, that gives a certain grounding in an unmoored world.
Also nice to have the great Matthew Engel a row away from me on his annual visit from his new home in the West Country.
And also today two more inductees into the hall of fame- ‘Ned’ Larkins and ‘Basher’ Bailey. Remarkable figures from the two latest inductees - a combined total of 61,120 runs for Northants across all formats, in 1,407 appearances for the club. Also 189 matches as captain. Loyalty eh.
On a positive sporting note, for me anyway, I watched Saif and Nathan McSweeney share a 261-run stand for Northants today against Gloucestershire-breaking a record set 60 years earlier by David Steele and Mushtaq Mohammad who were watching from the balcony.
