History person, Army officer, transplanted Buckeye, not really that angry anymore. Writes stuff. Some Star Wars. Refugee from Twitter. Views do not reflect or represent the DoD's. He/him/his. angrystaffofficer.com
Angry Staff Officer

I've spent months speaking to current & retired Black service members about being part of the military in this political moment. What I found were officers and soldiers despondent at the resurgence of racism, yet often insistent that they were fighting for what this country could be, not what it is.
There’s an insane moment during the battle when US brigade commander Judson Kilpatrick rushes off into the melee and returns to his staff with his saber bloodied: “that settles a score I’ve had since the academy” he says of the incident
This is the same battle where Jeff Davis’ cousin Col “Grimes” Davis - who didn’t do a treason - leads his 8th NY troopers until he gets shot in the face, whereupon his aide smashes open his assailant’s skull with a saber It was not a pretty war, suffice to say
Happy JEB Stuart gets surprised at Brandy Station Day to all who celebrate Imagine throwing a party to review your troopers but three brigades of US cavalry crash it. How embarrassing
