It's been a week since anyone's donated to my friend Hailey, and meanwhile she's having to pay for a lot of expensive meds. And she's still busy taking care of her mom who's recovering from chemo. If you could spare $5 or $10, it goes a long way thanks to the exchange rate with the real....

I too am of the "let's get back to The Doctor Is Just This Guy Y'know" school of thought
This is spot on. I fell off the Doctor Who train a few years ago, but I would watch the hell out of this version of the show.
Doctor (brandishing the psychic paper): I think this should explain everything. Guard (reading): “Thank you for your interest in Psychic Paper (tm). Your free trial period has ended. To subscribe…” [trails off, readying handcuffs] Doctor: That was never 100 uses!
This is an unsurprisingly thoughtful and thought provoking take on the possibilities that exist for a revived and re-energized Doctor Who - incredibly worth reading. Here's hoping the folks at the BBC read it also!

Great thoughts and suggestions here (as I would expect). I don't pretend to know the "solution" to the challenges of Who*, but these are great starting points. (I do think a showrunner who LIKES the series and honors its history but isn't BEHOLDEN to it matters as well.)
Yes, this. All of this. Also, Charlie Jane for showrunner!
All that said, if we're nominating people to run the show, I think the BBC should come crawling hat in hand to Nida Manzoor. She's already worked for the show, she's run her own show (We Are Lady Parts) and a feature film (Polite Society) and she's a fan. Hard to see anyone better on offer.
An excellent article that very much reflects my thinking. And the comparison to Trek at the end of Enterprise is EXACTLY how I’m feeling right now
