"Justifying Israel" is such a slippery weasel of a term. "Then these supposedly apolitical cultural productions always end up justifying the Nakba/Operation Cast Lead" would be an asinine thing to say, so what does Salaita actually mean by that? (I mean, I can guess!)

This is a low-key deranged take on Fiddler, but it suggests Salaita's dead soul (to borrow a phrase from Salaita himself) that he won't connect what Jews experienced in Russia under the Tsars to their desire for a state/homeland (even though in at the end of Fiddler they go to America).
