James Clair Flood was an American businessman who made a fortune thanks to the Comstock Lode in Nevada. Architect Albert Pissis designed the twelve-story bldg at a cost of $1,500,000. When it was completed in 1904 it was the largest building in San Francisco. www.sfcityguides.org
