I never scroll to see if anyone has something to see. I take note of what friends/colleagues say about shows or books and write that down. Then I find and view with intention.

I am also "of an age".
I had a dual cassette tape deck, dubbed friends tapes, & recorded stuff of the radio.

I firmly believe “convenient” technology is designed to make us lazier. There’s more intention behind taking out a DVD you own from its case, inserting and playing it than scrolling through Netflix for something they have that you may enjoy.
