One of two Tundra Bean Geese on wet grassland south of Crook Bank today. Nice to finally get in on the Bean Goose action after a bit of a wait. Also 44 White-fronts and 21 Barnacle Geese, but no sign of the Cackling Goose #patchbirding #lincsbirding #ukbirding
The Great Grey Shrike near Ingham this showed well at times including some lengthy hovering sessions #lincsbirding #ukbirding
A fairly brief visit to Covenham Reservoir this afternoon was very worthwhile, catching up with the two Great Northern and single Black-throated Diver for the first time this year. 12 Shags were an unexpected bonus! #lincsbirding #ukbirding
It's been a quiet year of twitching for me with my only two UK lifers coming in Lincs. Trips around the UK and further afield made it a special year, seeing some incredible species and always in great company. Hopefully, it will be more of the same in 2026. Happy New Year!
A decent slog around the Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR patch today resulted in 85 species, including these White-fronted Geese, plus Long-tailed Duck, Snow Bunting and seven raptors. A good start to the year list! #patchbirding #lincsbirding #ukbirding
Pectoral Sandpiper on Rimac car park scrape, Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR, today (when it was being chased off by Lapwings!). A Temminck's Stint joined later, and a fly-over Glossy Ibis made for a good morning #patchbirding #lincsbirding #ukbirding
A truly horrendous day on the coast, but the blasting easterly wind delivered a load of new White-fronted Geese. Over 150 in the Saltfleetby area today split into three groups, including a Dutch neck collared bird! 'Saltfleetby-Texelthorpe NNR' #patchbirding #lincsbirding #ukbirding
Winter goosing has been fairly slow locally this season, but it was nice to see this family group of White-fronted Geese close to Crook Bank, Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR, yesterday morning. Hopefully more to come soon... #lincsbirding #ukbirding
What hasn't felt like a particularly tremendous year on the Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes NNR patch still yielded a good species tally with 194 personally. A spring Savi's Warbler was my main highlight, but the supporting cast wasn't too bad... #patchbirding #lincsbirding #ukbirding
A wider search for interesting geese and swans along the coast yesterday proved rather unsuccessful, but a flock of Twite beside an agricultural field made the outing worthwhile #lincsbirding #ukbirding
