i do think im lukewarm tho dont get me wrong. but also i do think "its worrisome" is a valid criticism on its own even when its not blatantly orientalist in actuality. because "its worrisome" happens bc the creators lean in on the tired and offensive trend/ they are uncritical about it.
but the skin tone thing is like. its one thing if Theodore is the only character who is THAT gray and there are other characters who are like green and pink etc (as in its one thing if theyre established as fantasy race very clearly.) but ALL of the non-white looking characters are gray. its racism.
but then i also come from "some real things sometimes rly fall into stereotypes" kinda perspective. altho thats no excuse for the creators to uncritically leaning to the tired offensive shit. but thats why i wanna know more before i call it definitively. tho i am 100% ok calling it VERY worrisome.
