In this show I also made a paper color study out of colored and textured papers similar to the digital study.
Then everything was laser cut on my Glowforge from different materials and assembled. The cut watercolor pieces were painted, and the main skeleton gilded in 24K gold leaf.
In this piece I also used a 3D skeleton posing app for more accuracy on the bones. I then made a digital color study in Photoshop to help work out my materials and color palette.
I hope to see you this weekend for the opening of Character in Context at the A.R. Mitchell Museum of Western Art in Trinidad, CO! If you can’t make it in person, the full show is online, and both of my pieces are available!

Then the larger piece was cut from a variety of papers and acrylics. There were so many individual and varied techniques and materials used in this piece, I haven’t been able to name them all here! If you have any questions on a specific part of my process or materials, please feel free to ask!

The opening night of Character in Context is this weekend in Trinidad, CO! If you can’t make it, here’s a little more of my process on the Red Ghost. Like all my work, it started with a drawing on lined grid paper. This helps ensure my files are the same size as the original drawing.

Then the most time consuming process of making all the elements in Adobe Illustrator and organizing them into cut layers and engraving layers. I have to keep my files extremely organized and make tons of layers and groups with somewhat corresponding colors to keep them straight.
