I feel like Claude being banned by the US govt this is AI equivalent to how the highest award in journalism is being assassinated by the CIA. Like, we know what the best AI is now
It is fucking amazing that this year Providence RI told everyone “no street parking during this snow storm. You’re all adults, figure it out or get towed” and then did it. that’s what a social contract looks like

Can the high school rebuild cost half a billion dollars? Can the public housing system or trimet be allowed to fail? Can you ride that emoto on that trail? Can you smoke in the park? Can your dog come into the store?
No. Time for rules.
I will never run for office because my campaign slogan of “no. time for rules.” will probably not resonate
Oh for sure NYT, definitely some cheering in there. Thank you for your brave truth telling.
It Happening in Madison Square Garden on live TV to thunderous applause is something that we don’t deserve. Our national karma simply won’t allow something like that to happen.
But a boy can dream
One of the reasons that I am heated about this is that degradation of parks assets is going to be hyper visible. It will be so easy to spin narratives of a city in decline. There is a 40% cut to funding for watering park fields. You’ll see that irl this summer!
Including parks funding (passable) in the broader CSR amendment (doomed to fail 6-6) was a choice.
Cllrs endorsing a challenger who is gunning for Novick’s seat also didn’t help.
That said, the blame is with the mod squad who killed this last chance to avoid millions of cuts to Portland parks
It goes without saying, I know, but if a dem was in office doing this, oil would be $200/bbl
