I remember celebrating in elementary school, dressing up as pilgrims, pioneers, etc. I guess the focus was on Manifest Destiny. 😕 More positively, Girl Scout troops in my town walked in the 4th of July parade that year carrying the flags of all 50 states. I remember I carried Wyoming’s flag. 🙂
