New publication alert! 🚨
We analyzed the shared genetic architecture of suicide attempt (SA) and ideation (SI) across 13 traits using large-scale GWAS. We found shared loci implicating neurodevelopmental, immune, and metabolic pathways, with distinct signatures for SA vs SI. doi.org/10.1016/j.eu...
Interesting results with careful assessment of genetic influence and multiple confounding variables on DNA methylation in a clinical trial for psychotherapy. Wonderful work, @kirahoeffler.bsky.social and colleagues!
Attending the 5th Annual Suicide Research Symposium this week (lnkd.in/gpRjbxDw)? Don't miss the presentation by our brilliant PhD student Valeria Arredondo on Wed, April 15th, on the methylomics/transcriptomics of suicide/bipolar disorder (teaser: long non-coding RNAs!!).

Excited and honored to share that I’ve received the 2026 Gerald L. Klerman Young Investigator Award from DBSA! This recognition means a great deal and reflects the incredible mentors, collaborators, trainees, and research participants who make our work possible.

There is encouraging but heterogeneous evidence linking epigenetic age acceleration to worse cognitive performance. More research is needed to establish epigenetic aging tools as premature cognitive aging biomarkers.
Bipolar is one of the most common mental health diagnoses but still remains hugely misunderstood.
For #WorldBipolarDay, we want that to change.
Still time to register for the Suicide Research Symposium next week! It's such a good conference and it's free so check it out!
Yours truly will be moderating the session on DBT and the session on youth and young adult risk screening!
