Restoring science means giving researchers, industries and international partners confidence that Australia can plan, build and deliver over decades.
Through challenge and change, you stood up for science and made every minute count.
Now, as the baton passes to our new President, Laureate Professor Sam Berkovic a new chapter begins and the challenge to restore science for the nation and build a stronger future for all Australians continues.
Ever wondered what’s inside the Shine Dome, the building that looks like a spaceship? It’s not aliens. The Academy’s 21st President, Laureate Professor Sam Berkovic AC, takes you on a mini tour of the Australian Academy of Science and shares his vision for the future of Australian science.
48 months. 1,460 days. 2,102,400 minutes Thank you, Professor Chennupati Jagadish AC, for leading the Australian Academy of Science with optimism and conviction.
Despite a long history of world-leading discoveries, Australia's science system is going backwards – at the very moment the rest of the world is moving forward, fast. That's why we've launched BACK AUSTRALIA'S ABILITY, a call to every Australian to do exactly that.
Science infrastructure is national infrastructure. And for international partners building major instruments with Australian scientists, long-term certainty matters. These projects are not built in budget cycles. Some are built over decades.
$323.8 million for priority research infrastructure is welcome by the Academy.
