mostly thinking about this because i was listening to a podcast episode about how like, being skinny and diet culture is back "in" again after like a brief wave of 2010s body positivity stuff and how this kind of thing is also happening in politics, lgbt rights, general culture, etc etc
i remember in the 2000's the culture was way more mean and fake and then in like the very late 00's - early 10's it was like, cool to be nice and authentic (even if it was performative, corny, co-opted by capitalism, etc) and now everyone is mean and fake again and i'm sooo ready for it to be done
