A remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 this year to mark the franchise’s 40th anniversary. The reveal was made during a Nintendo Direct presentation held on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026, confirming rumours circulating on social media that a remake of the 1998 classic was under development. Considered one of the greatest games of all time, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time brought the series into the era of 3D gaming and introduced a number of elements now familiar to the franchise, including targeting and horseback riding.
