This happened this past Friday. Still processing it, especially since Auburn was actually except from the new state law that allowed this to happen.
Let me make a clarification about this. I am not dismissing military history or historians. Only those who think that military history can’t/shouldn’t change and should be the same than half a century ago. Mil. history is alive and well, & has evolved in methods and ideas just like any other field.
Someone is unhappy that historians don’t do history like 50 years ago. Maybe it has to do with the fact that (check notes) 50 years have passed, and therefore methodologies have evolved, as they should. 🙄
I hear that Vanderbilt and Washington university have a new “report”, and for all I have seen, it’s just a huge pile of nonsense
God forbid that we let experts in the field make decisions about programs of study.
Currently reading this fantastic book by @juliagaffield.bsky.social, really enjoying it, and realizing that every once in a while, reading a book about the Haitian revolution is a much needed exercise, especially when written by great historians.
Poor Cubans can get a break these days.
Such a loss for the history community, and gone in such a sad way. RIP Gordon Wood. www.golocalprov.com/news/pulitze...
It's always a good time to read a book about the Haitian Revolution!! 👇
