Maybe lost in the shuffle, but York is heavy in rural Red Pennsylvania. For them to stand up to these players and say "Kick rocks, we're celebrating Pride with or without you" is pretty great.

The York Revolution has forfeited its game Thursday night against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs after an internal controversy surrounding "Pride Night" and the pride jersey, according to the team. In a statement, the club announced that, out of respect for the Pride community and the York community as a whole, the June 18 game will be forfeited, but Pride Night festivities will continue as the feature element at WellSpan Park. The decision comes on the heels of several of the team's players refusing to wear the Pride Night jersey. As a result, the club decided the team should not be forced to wear jerseys they aren't comfortable with. However, in the announcement, the club reiterated its belief that hosting the event is more important than playing the game. "We feel that this is the best way to stay consistent with our long-standing partnerships with the Rainbow Rose Center, JLS Automation and the long list of allies that have always been key partners of the York Revolution’s success in York, Pennsylvania," the club wrote in its announcement. As an act of support for the LGBTQIA+ community, the team announced it is making a $10,000 donation to the Rainbow Rose Center to further their work on inclusivity. To be clear; this action by the players is completely inconsistent with our vision as the Most Welcoming Place in York. Tickets for the game are being treated as a rainout and can be redeemed for any future game, the club confirmed.
