Riding bikes is 10X more important than electric cars for reaching net-zero cities. And that’s just the climate emissions. Doesn’t include the massive public & personal cost difference, the air & noise pollution difference, the massive space difference, etc, etc…Via @theconversation.bsky.social
Absolutely loved Colbert revisiting Only in Monroe. Funny in a way Late Show never was. I appreciated what he brought to late night tv, but I always thought the format was never the best fit for his brand of humor. I hope this return to form is a sign of things to come.
Colbert’s farewell hit me harder than I expected. The quiet sequence of β€œJump Up” before the louder finale was beautiful, full of joy and melancholy. I was a big fan of The Colbert Report, but over the last decade he has become a figure of such rich humanity, and we will feel the absence.

Big Sur on a #bike is the way to do it...
At a conference this week in Montreal and have been using their bike share system to get from my hotel to the venue. Have been astounded by the courtesy of drivers here. Stark contrast to the US. Easily makes up for the insanely bumpy roads here. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘ŽπŸΌ
This month we’re revisiting the very first episode of #HistoryInFocus. It’s a look at Odeuropa, a historical smells project. Among other things, I react to a series of scents the team sent me live on mic. @historians.org #historypodcast #historicalsmells www.historians.org/podcast/foll...
Out today from #HistoryInFocus: A look at the AHR's latest special issue, "'76 Objects," which marks this year's 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence with an exploration of the material culture of the American Revolution. @historians.org
