I suspected this World Cup to be an absolute shit show, but even I didn't expect we'd have video assistant referees throwing out White Power hand gestures prior to a game.
This #Roman glass cup features painted scenes of gladiatorial combat. It was discovered at #Vindolanda Roman fort and settlement in #Northumberland, the pieces found in separate parts of the site. It was made in the Rhineland, likely Cologne, Germany, in the 3rd C CE.

Surprisingly nice thing about being a newly-published author: friends sending you pics of your book 'in the wild'. These are from @vindolandatrust.bsky.social museum shop.

Oh it's #MosaicMonday? Well here is the one being uncovered at Halberton, Devon as part of our SHARE fieldschool and community excavation project. Next open day, when the mosaic will be fully uncovered, is 11 July!
ok so where can a friend and I visit in north Wiltshire -ish that’s open on 21 Sunday and won’t be heaving with Solstice goers? We enjoy museums/art/gardens/walking except I can’t do much walking atm.

Good to know that there are archaeological features in the clay with flint desposit - huzzah!
All these STONE LANDS events still to come this summer! I'm looking forward to talking about these incredible survivals from prehistory, exploring what we can tell about the preoccupations of the people who built them and what they mean to us today. Hope you can join and share your thoughts too!
