My favorite people on Bluesky are the ones who complain that I put a small portion of my newsletter behine a paywall.
I’m on vacation so will have a deeper thread later but quick reactions: (1) moderately surprising the Court is unanimous here (during args, Alito and Roberts sounded pro-govt), (2) disappointing to see Bruen/Rahimi further entrenched, even if Jackson’s concurrence (joined *only* by Sotomayor, not
Pretty remarkable to me that as a 24-year-old law student, Sonia Sotomayor made The Washington Post for reporting a law firm partner to Yale after he asked her racist questions during a recruiting dinner ballsandstrikes.substack.com/p/clarence-t...

First (but *not* last) #SCOTUS ruling today is in Hemani (the gun case). For a basically unanimous Court, Justice Gorsuch unanimously (but *very narrowly*) blocks federal government's prosecution of Hemani on Second Amendment grounds: www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...
As of now, #SCOTUS only has one more public session scheduled (for next Thursday). But there is *no* way that the Court is handing down 17 rulings then. Instead, I expect the Court to add at least three more decision days, including at least one next week, and then perhaps two the week of June 29.
Not sure I've ever seen an Alito-Kagan concurrence before, but it's pretty persuasive.
