So proud to see our PhD student Kate’s first chapter in print!
She shows that clonal geckos are far from genetically uniform.
An elegant demonstration that sex, past or ongoing, underpins the persistence of asexual vertebrate lineages.

Non-destructive genomics from museum collections?🫙🧬
A new MER study by @erinhahn.bsky.social & colleagues show the promises and limitations of recovering historical biodiversity signals from specimen preservation media. #HistoricalDNA #Metabarcoding

If there's DNA hiding in the vaults, we'll find it! 🧬
📣 New paper out, affectionately called BUCKET-Seq, we explored liquid media as a non-destructive source of specimen DNA.
DNA is recoverable from specimen media but we caution that it stems from mixed sources.

📣 New paper alert!
@clareholleley.bsky.social and I share some thoughts on why you should be looking in wet specimen jars for historical gene regulation information
