I've been putting up new shelving in my office and I'm proud to report that I have solved the Building Stories issue for a generation.
After a lifetime of consuming American media, it is hard for the little differences to surprise me. But I had never heard the phrase "dopp kit" used for a washbag until recently. Dopp kit! Short, no doubt, for "Director of Public Prosecutions kit".
Also did I cut the ends of the brackets in the exact place to make skulls on purpose? Yes I did.
I learned this when trying to find an old fashioned triangular-profiled canvas men's washbag rather than the heavily padded modern leatherette cuboids which have apparently completely replaced them.
